Preparing your vehicle correctly helps inspections go smoothly and reduces the chance of delays.
Fuel and fluids
Keep about 1/8 to 1/4 tank of gas. Confirm fluid levels are appropriate for the season so lines and reservoirs are protected in transit.
Remove personal items
Do not ship household goods in the vehicle. DOT rules restrict personal cargo on auto carriers. A securely attached child car seat is the usual exception. Anything left inside is your responsibility if damaged.
Clean for inspection
Wash the exterior so pickup and delivery inspections can note existing marks accurately. Photograph your vehicle before pickup for your own records.
Remove extras
Take off non-factory items such as racks, antennas, and toll transponders. Transporters are not responsible for toll charges on personal transponders.
Be ready for handoff
Someone 18 or older must be present at pickup and delivery to inspect and sign—unless you designate another adult. Your Wildfire coordinator will share final prep details after booking.
